Do politicians have a greater obligation in policymaking or defining culture?

The Measured Medium was first conceived as a podcast in December 2020 by Ethan Kim. The first episode interviewed the local school board president on California Proposition 16 and COVID-19 reopening schools. The podcast continued for a year discussing political issues and movie reviews.
When Kim became an opinion columnist for the Daily Californian at UC Berkeley, he used the same name for his column. The column centered around the early primaries of the 2024 election and other current events. Now, the Measured Medium is a column for the Outspoken, beginning with articles on the last few months of 2024 election and general politics.
Neither campaign is relaxing. With 22 days until the election, both sides are ramping up their ground game in all seven swing states. These polls are not the final tally but one estimation set in time - a prediction of what may happen based on current moods. And the reality is that the only number that matters is the last one on election day.
Trump's greatest opponent is himself, and that's because he misses opportunities like a blind archer pointing the bow in the opposite direction of the target. The Democrats are rightfully celebrating that fatal flaw today.
Put aside the policy debate of this election, Harris's campaign is avoiding interviews for a reason. Yet, the bizarre thing is that it's working. She might walk away with the presidency and a Democrat-majority in at least the House.
And with this turmoil, the American people have been treading water for the past decade. Our legs are sore and the water under our chin is rising. We look to our leadership class to be our lifeguard during tsunamis, but if nobody can dive in and save us, the people will have to tread for a little bit longer.
