In truth, patriotism is a virtue and nationalism is a vice. Nationalism is standing by your country no matter what whereas patriotism is standing by the principles represented in the country no matter what.
Over the last holiday season, I watched the movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Although I have watched it numerous times, I always get emotional at the end. It is a well-produced movie with one of the best plots I have ever seen. I encourage anyone to watch it, especially with family.
On January 3rd, 2020, President Donald Trump executed an airstrike killing Iran’s leading terrorist Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad according to CBS News. Soleimani was the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.
I used to think that war was attractive. In my childhood, I would read about World War II with excitement and wonder. I believed that it was admirable that the nation was able to band together in its greatest time of need in order to defeat a great foe and help liberty and justice prevail.
